In 2012, I formally opened up my consulting practice. I have worked in the nonprofit and public sectors for over 10 years, developing core advocacy, communication, coalition-building, and management skills. Like many consultants, I began my consulting work while holding down a full-time job, working with small organizations on contract assignments that ranged from basic administrative tasks to full project management of campaigns.
I noticed that the types of work I loved doing and the types of organizations I kept being drawn to over and over again all had one thing in common – advancing ideas for the betterment of society. More specifically, I’m at home “working in the trenches”, behind the scenes doing research and project management, but I am equally at home “in front”, managing high-profile relationships and bringing consensus on hot-button issues.
